(The best times to visit)

Under Construction

If you enjoy crowds and like excitement, then plan to visit during national or religious holidays.  Always pre-book accommodations for holiday times, as hotels book up early.  This will not be a budget holiday as hotel prices rise dramatically during these busy times.  The busiest times are the two weeks before Christmas to a week after new years, the week of Semana Santa (Easter spring break), Carnival week (early February) and St. Patrick's day (March 17th). The prime high season is from December 15th till after Easter.  The annual Mexican school vacation period of July and August is also considered high season, although not many foreign tourists travel to the Costalegre in summer.

Many people who come to the Costalegre are looking for a quiet, laid back holiday, so usually arrive after the crowds leave or before they arrive.  All of November and the first two weeks of December are quieter, as well as the last three weeks in January till the end of March (before Carnival).  After Carnival it is quiet again until Semanta Santa (holy week, Easter) at the end of March.  It is very quiet after Easter.  Hotels seldom close for the low season, but some restaurants do. If you go in October or November or after Easter you will have fewer choices of where to eat.  The main tourist season is from November to March, but many travelers visit year round.
