( Isla de Navidad)
The little village of Colimilla (also know as La Culebra) is located in the Municipal of Manzanillo in the state of Colima. It is directly across the lagoon from Barra de Navidad (Barra is in the state of Jalisco). Colimilla has a thatched-roof church and only about 300 permanent residents. It is overshadowed by the Grand Bay hotel and marina complex. Colimilla is widely known for suburb dinning experiences at the half dozen lagoon-side restaurants there.
Although you may drive to Colimilla from Barra de Navidad, most people take a 5 minute water taxi (Panga) across the Barra lagoon. There are a number of ferry launches that leave from the Barra de Navidad lagoon-side docks on Avenida Veracruz. If you decide ahead of time what restaurant you want to visit, look for that restaurants panga and you may ride for free. To drive here, head South from Barra-Jaluco junction about 10 kilometers, turning toward the water following the signs for Isla Navidad and the Grand bay hotel.
