The village of Punta Pérula lies at the northwest end of the bahía de Chamela.  Pérula is 3km from from Mex. 200 Hwy. junction (El Super) at mile marker 73.  This small village has only a few places to stay, and is quite secluded.  The beach Playa Pérula however is beautiful and excellent for swimming and beach combing.  The soft white sand sweeps for 8 km (5mi.) south around Bahía Chamela.  The warm trade winds occasionally blow briskly here, but the waves break softly on the beach due to the shelter of islands at the mouth of the bay.  You'll often see ocean cruisers (sailboats) anchored in the lee of Punta Pérula.  La Boca (the mouth) is a mangrove estuary at the northwest end of the bay.  GPS N19º36´24" W105º07´25"
