Taxi's are the most versatile way to get around in Costa Alegre.  Whether it's a short trip across town or a full tour of the area, cab drivers will get you there "fast".  Mañana does not apply to Mexican taxi drivers.  Although very honest and reliable is is wise to agree on a price before you get into a taxi.  For a return trip pay only half the fare in advance, and the balance when they return to pick you up.  They are usually very punctual.  Barter for the fare as they are quite expensive.  You will negotiate the best price if you barter for tomorrow's trip.  At the taxi stands (Sitios), prices are posted for outlining areas. Hire a taxi driver for an all day tourist guide of the area.  Expect to pay $500 to $800 pesos or more.  Be reasonable when bartering for a taxi as fuel is very expensive. Cab drivers rarely receive tips in México because the cabs are not metered.  Most cabs are station wagons (camionetas) that can carry four visitors and their luggage.
