LOCAL EVENTS & ATTRACTIONS
(Melaque, San Patricio & Villa Obregon)

The main attraction in Melaque are the beach areas. The
waves are smaller and the beach somewhat more crowded toward the
western end of Playa Melaque, where the swimming is safer for
younger children. |
January
|
The 2006 benefit for “Centro De
Atencion Multiple Cihuatlan” will be at AVA’s and held over two
nights, the 22nd and 23rd of January (Sunday and Monday). The
auction and some acoustic music on the first night (inside the
restaurant), and the outdoor concert on the second night. |

Villa Obregon Fiestas is held every year in late January.
It was held this year on January 26th to February 3rd. 2002.
Participate in some Local Culture, with daily parades, live music
& bull riding. |
March
|
Día de San Patricio (St.
Patrick's Day) is celebrated every year on March 17th. Festival
San Patricio/Melaque celebrations are held the week prior to St.
Patrick's Day. |

Occasionally
there are live shows featuring famous Mexican entertainers held at
the Stadium in San Patricio. Pictured here is a poster and the
entrance ticket for Ezequiel Peña's January 13th. 2002 rodeo show.
It featured
singer Elizabeth Arana and the Yovisong 18 piece
"Banda".
There was rodeo bull riding, and Ezequiel sang on horseback. Show
lasted about 3 hours and cost $100 pesos. Spectators danced
in the isles. Bring ear plugs to
live shows, as they are very loud!

There
are
charreadas (Mexican rodeos) held occasionally in nearby
pueblos and Corridas de Toros (bullfights) take place at the
bull ring on the corner of Calle Hidalgo and Mex 200 the week
before Festival Melaque. |
