Last years well attended event was held Jan. 16-18th. 2003.

2002 marked the 27th annual International Championship Fishing Tournament, which took place January 24, 25 & 26th.  The guest of honor was the governor of the state of Jalisco.  The winning fish was a 186 kg. marlin caught by Jose Jimenez Rodriguez of Guadalajara.  His prize was a 2002 Chevy pick-up truck.  Roberto Bustos also won a truck with his 38.6 kg Pez Vela (sailfish).  Ruthy Wright (pictured) from Uvalde Texas took Woman's First Place with three Sailfish (one 30 kg) and one dorado.  Marsha Ewing's team from Barra won a 8hp Johnson motor for 3rd prize.  Other tournament prizes included fishing gear and trophies.

Carnival de Barra de Navidad deep sea fishing tournament took place on February 9th, 2002.  This derby coincides with the week long festivities of Carnival in Barra de Navidad.

The International Marlin Tournament took place from May 31st to June 2nd. 2002.

Fathers and Sons fishing tournament is held each August.
 

The International Sailfish Tournament took place on September 14th & 15th. 2002.
