Carnival is a yearly event in Mexico and Barra de Navidad celebrates with gusto each February.  Carnival Costalegre 2002 opened on Sunday February 3rd with opening ceremonies, parades and music in the streets.  International dance night and Foreign Queen contest was on Tuesday and the Miss Costalegre 2002 Pageant took place on Friday.  The following Sunday the Colima International Ballet & Folkloric dance group preformed.  More info

The main venue for Carnival Costalegre is held at the Fidel Kosonoy Celedon sports field in Barra de Navidad.  2007 marks the 19th year carnival has been held in Barra.

There is a sailboat cruisers "get together" at Bahía de Navidad on March 17th. (St. Patrick's day) 

Barra de Navidad is almost world renown in the fishing world.  Tournaments take place throughout the year.
